Summer/Spring Nail Polish Faves!

My Favorite Spring & Summer Nail Polishes!

As a Cosmetology student, beauty blogger, and girly girl it is safe to say I love to have something on my nails at all times! Since I love having my tips and toes painted to perfection I've always noticed the nail trends coming and going, but some, like these brights and pastels, are always great for the Spring and Summer. With that said, I highly recommend some of these polishes and even though brands like O.P.I are a bit pricey at times, I believe they are worth it for the great lasting power and when you buy them in colors like the classic spring and summer inspired ones below you will get your use out of them year after year.

Some of my favorite base polishes that I love using on all of my nails include (Top left to right) O.P.I Are we There Yet?, Elephantastic Pink, Hard Candy Splendid, Hard Candy Hypnotic, Savina Purple Hologram (Bottom left to right) NYC Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in Classic Coral Creme, Essence Colour & Go in I want Candy, O.P.I. Gargantuan Green Grape, Savina Pink Poddle Pearl, and O.P.I. Planks A Lot.

Plus, a few of my favorite toppers or shades I use for accent nails include O.P.I. White Shatter, O.P.I Spark de Triumph, O.P.I. Silver Shatter, China Glaze Crackle in Haute Metal, and O.P.I. Red Shatter.

Here's one of my favorite combos featuring Essence Colour & Go in I Want Candy and China Glaze Crackle in Haute Metal!

My Current Skincare Routine

Wanna know what I've been doing to keep my skin clear? Well you have come to the right place!

Currently I use an interesting mixture products, but somehow they all work very well for me and although my skin is not perfect 24/7, this regimen has greatly reduced and dare I say i,t beat my war on acne and has helped me maintain a much clearer complexion. Keep reading for weekly skincare regimen!

My Weekly Regimen:

Monday - I use Clearasil Perfectawash to cleanse my skin once a day, usually at night to help get makeup off. (although I should use it twice a day, I just find once a day works best for me)

Tuesday - First, I cleanse my skin using the Clearasil Perfectawash and then use a small nickel sized amount of c.Booth Walnut Shell Body Scrub and Cleanser on my face as an exfoliant to help remove dead skin cells and dark marks.

Wednesday - Once again I use Clearasil Perfectawash to cleanse my skin once a day.

Thursday - Instead of using the Clearasil Perfectawash I use XOut Wash-In Treatment to cleanse the skin and instead of immediately rinsing off like I do with the Clearasil Perfectawash, I leave the treatment on my skin for anywhere between 4 and 9 minutes acting as a mask, but only having to use one pump instead of two if I had rinsed and then applied as a mask.

Friday - Once again I use Clearasil Perfectawash to cleanse my skin once a day.

Saturday - If I am experiencing any stubborn breakouts I cleanse and treat my face with the XOut Wash-In Treatment following the same procedure as Thursday.

Sunday - Once again I use Clearasil Perfectawash to cleanse my skin once a day.

{If at any time I am experiencing any dryness of tightness of the skin I will use the Mary Kay TimeWise Moisturizer (normal to dry) to help hydrate my skin before bed.}

Since I haven't been using a normal moisturizer, I find my skin to be getting a bit more dry than normal, so I would greatly appreciate moisturizer recommendations in the comments!

Interesting Link: Tanda Skincare.com

The way your skin looks is always a big rollercoaster whether you are like me and need help with acne removal or if you want to treat aging with a more advanced anti-aging light treatment. Throughout history, many women both young and old have struggled with these skincare problems and have gone great lengths to get their complexion pefected, but thanks to Tanda.com there is a new way to help with acne and signs of aging simply by using  acne light therapy as well as  anti-aging light therapy. But before Tanda was invented, women went through many great hardships and used various methods in an attempt to further technology until the Tanda light therapy units were invented.

The revolutionary Tanda system of both blue acne light treatments as well as red anti-aging light treatments covers most women's needs and takes a more serious approach to skincare than your normal acne or wrinkle treatment. Here's the breakdown:

The Tanda Clear+ combines blue light therapy, sonic vibrations, and gentle warming of the skin all in combination to reveal a more flawless complexion. The blue wavelengths used produce oxygen on the skin that attach to acne-causing bacteria causing them to self-destruct. In addition, the sonic vibrations increases microcirculation while the warming sensation opens pores to allow the light to more effectively penetrate.

The Tanda Luxe is used to deliver a photofacial experience to create a gorgeously soft and smooth glowing complexion thanks to the specific wavelengths of the red light to boost overall cellular energy which in turn increases your production of collagen and elastin to create smoother, more youthful complexion.

Although both acne light therapy and anti-aging light therapy are relatively new, Tanda has perfected the at-home use of these incredible devices and are so sure you will love it that they offer a risk-free money-back guarantee if you aren't satisfied, but if you are, don't worry, all their products also come with a one-year warranty so if your device breaks after normal use, just send it back with proof of purchase and receive a new one free of charge! Thanks to Tanda skincare just became amazingly high-tech and now you too can use it in the comfort of your own home while still seeing professional results!

A Few Hits And Misses

So we all have a few beauty products that absolutely adore, the ones that we talk about 24/7 and use every last drop of. But we also have the products we don't like. The ones that look funny on, don't wear well or are just plain unusable! Well these are just a couple of products that I found within my first year of blogging to be great hits and terrible misses.

Hits

Face

NYC Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup in Ivory
If anyone knows anything about me, it is that I am constantly on a never-ending quest for the best new foundation or concealer. Well on this quest, I have encountered a serious contender for my number one foundation in my current beauty product assortment, the NYC Smooth Skin Liquid Foundation. I can honestly say that I was not expecting much of this foundation considering it was just under $3.00, even though my beloved NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Bronzing Powder in Sunny is one of my best drugstore finds, I was still a little doubtful of this very low priced foundation. Read More...

Essence Mattifying Compact Powder in Translucent
Ever had that mid-day shine creep up on you faster than you can say, "Where the heck did that come from?" Well join the oily/combo skin club ladies and gents! I know what you're thinking, "Oh gosh, another drugstore product that fails to deliver the truly matte results I desire? No Thanks, I think I'll pass." But this time, I think I finally found something worth both your time and your $2.99. As a girl with super moody skin, one day I'm drier than the Sahara Desert and the next I'm greasier than an oil spill, I have learned to try and adapt to my skin's wants and needs. Read More...

Cheeks
Benefit Feelin' Cheeky Mini Set
I will admit it, I am a sucker for a good deal. So when I happened to be browsing around a Sephora (back when I was with my sister in the Virginia/D.C. area) I must have looked dumbstruck, utterly surprised and filled with desire when I saw the mere $15.00 price tag on this set of popular Benefit minis near the check-out line. I would be lying if I said I didn't snatch one up as fast as humanly possible before checking out! Read More...

NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Bronzing Powder in Sunny
For me, bronzer is almost an everyday must-have product because I am very, very, desperately pale and I despise spray tans and self-tan lotions that leave me orange and streaky. I'm also not much of a fan of super shimmery and glittery face bronzers (Too Faced Bronze Leopard for example) because I prefer to just add color and contour with bronzer and add to my cheeks a shimmery blush. Therefore, this bronzer is great for gals like me who prefer a matte, tan look without excessive orangey-ness or shimmer and glitter. Read More...

Eyes
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Once upon a time, I was innocently browsing Sephora's website to look at new products when I came across The Urban Decay Naked Palette. It had all of the eyeshadow colors a girl could need, from barely there naked to golden baked bronze and browns to the sultry and oh-so smokey black and grey. I had lusted after it and what do ya know, over half a year later, I've got my paws on it and I am not letting go anytime soon! It was just by chance I was able to meet with this highly anticipated palette so I grabbed it and ran the first chance I got! (don't worry, I stopped by the checkout line before running all the way home!) Read More...

LORAC Single Eyeshadows in Black, Negligee, and Boudoir
I have to admit, I was kind of expecting these shadows to not be so great. Each of these shadows at retail price are about $19.00, but when I received them in my package from Hautelook I was very disappointed in their individual packaging. It isn't that the packaging is bad, but it felt a little cheap for $19.00 each. The shiny black plastic containers are not the sturdiest by any means and the screw-top tends to not screw on completely right ever since I took them off the first time. So with this in mind, I braced myself for some not-so-great eyeshadows (and felt thankful I didn't pay retail price for them). Read More...

Mini Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara
Also included is a mini Supercurl Curling Mascara with a bent wand that easily coats even the hardest-to-reach lashes with this *super* curling mascara. I can not say enough good things about this mascara, it coats every lash while separating and curling so there is no need for an eyelash curler or a lash comb. Read More...

Essence I ♥ Extreme Volume Mascara
With this mascara, I find I get all the extra oomph I need! In just one coat I get a good amount of separation just as I do with my other favorites, but this one also thickens my lashes just enough to still look natural and volumized. When another coat is added on top I find that my lashes start to stick together a little bit, but it is nothing that a few extra swipes or a lash comb can't fix in exchange for even more thicker looking lashes with a bit more length added into the mix. Read More...

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Professional Size)
Present day I am a fully-obsessed Urban Decay lover for life, what started with this simple primer developed into a full on love affair with their eyeshadows and liner too which always perform their best when used in combination with this primer. Before I ever used a primer, my eyeshadow would almost always crease and fade throughout the day and I just thought I couldn't do anything about it, until that moment I tried out this classic cult-fave. Lips

EOS Lip Sphere in Sweet Mint
With the rough and tough winter weather taking its' toll on my lippies, they were in need of some serious lip-loving rehab so I turned to a trusty favorite of many beauty gurus and bloggers, the EOS Lip Sphere. I know I'm a little late, but I think it's never really too-late to jump on the bandwagon and finally experience what is being hyped up in the beauty community. Especially when it's as cute as this little sphere of lip balm is! Read More...

Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss in Candy Bar
Since I have to wake up oh so early in the morning and haul my tired tush to school, I literally NEED products that will go on quickly and easily and last all day. That also means I expect my lip products to stay on without bleeding while still feeling... well... pleasant. In my experience, most long-wearing products tend to be sticky and feel heavy, so I was pleasantly surprised when this formula turned out to be everything but that... at first. Read More...

Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes (30 count)
Finding a mediocre great makeup removing towelette in today's beauty isles can be hard, tiring and frustrating! With that said, I have tried what seems like a thousand different varieties and brands of towelettes, each failing to completely remove my makeup or leaving behind a sticky residue. Somehow when searching the isles of my local Tar-geh I just knew these would be the towelettes that would be life changing and end my search for the perfect one (as I had thought with every other wipe I had tried!). So after picking up a few other beauty items I rushed home to wait for night fall so I could try one out, I was certain they were magical! Read More...

Bath & Body

c. Booth Walnut Shell Body Scrub & Cleanser
After coming home and pretty much immediately stepping into the shower and squeezing out a grape sized dollop of this body scrub and cleanser, I noticed the nutty, warm vanilla fragrance waft up to my nose, which at first wasn't exactly my favorite since I prefer much more fresh and fruity scents. However, I have come to actually really enjoy the scent of it in the shower as it actually relaxes me when I use this before bed-time. All scent issues aside, I noticed the texture of it is sort-of somewhere between a gel and cream base that is actually really easy to rub into the skin and disperse the small to medium sized granules evenly. Read More...

Misses

Face

Rimmel London Stay Matte in 100 Ivory

After getting home and initially squeezing a small amount on the back of my hand I realized that the foundation was about 1-2 shades off from my natural fair skin color even though I picked the lightest shade they carry (100 ivory). But I still thought I would be able to work with it because I have done so before with other too-dark-for-me foundations by blending really well into the skin and using a lighter setting powder.
When I went to apply this foundation to my face, first I tried squeezing a very small amount onto a foundation brush and applying directly to my face, but found my foundation looked streaky and completely uneven. Read More...

Eyes

L'Oreal Voluminous  Million Lashes Mascara
This mascara also claims to have a no clumping formula that I tend to disagree with because I do get lashes that stick together and small clumps at the ends of my lashes every so often. However, I think this is just because of the very "wet" formula and after a month and a half it will start to dry out some so it is more workable with less drying time. L'Oreal also claims that this mascara brush is "uniquely designed to amplify and separate lashes from corner to corner while building breath taking volume." and parts of this statement I agree with like the volume and amplification of lashes. Other parts like separation (it clumps a small bit, not bad, but I hate having to go back and use a lash comb) and uniquely designed brush (it really does not look all that unique compared to the Buxom's patented hour-glass brush and the brush is very short in comparison as well).  Read More...

Bath & Body

Suave Cocoa Butter Body Lotion

When I picked this bottle up I was very impressed with the super low price of only $4.00 for 18 fluid ounces! However, I soon learned when I got home that I definitely chose the wrong scent to try out. After just one pump on my hand I could immediate smell the dark-chocolaty cocoa scent wafting up to my nose, which is a nice scent, don't get me wrong, but when I slathered this all over my arms and legs, I felt like I must have smelt like a Hershey chocolate bar! I expected a light cocoa scent, but nothing as sweet and sickening as what wafted out of the bottle! Read More...

Stash Tea Review

One thing you probably don't know about me - I absolutely love coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fancy expresso drinks! With that said, I feel like I am always looking for the next best hot drink that I can sip and thanks to Influenster, who sent me a variety box of Stash Tea bags, I have found exactly what I have been looking for!

Stash Herbal Tea Sampler
Being the tea fiend that I am, I absolutely love the convenience of tea bags like these that only require me to heat water and let steep 3-5 minutes. With that being said, I also want a lot of flavor from it which is bit hard to do with tea bags, but thankfully many of the flavors in this box fit my bold flavor checklist while just a few of them fall short.

Acai Berry- A toned down rosy, floral mixture that's great before bed.

Blueberry Superfruit- Refreshing blueberry flavor with a touch of sweetness and fruity undertones.

Chamomile- Simple, comforting chamomile flavors.

Cinnamon Apple Chamomile- A cinnamon twist on the classic chamomile flavor.

Lemon Ginger- An energetic combo of lemon and ginger root perfect for day in bed with a cold.

Licorice Spice - Sweet orange peel and vanilla with just a bit of tang from the licorice, anise, and cinnamon create literally the perfect sweet tea I have ever tasted!

Mango Passionfruit- One of the weaker tasting teas of the bunch with just hints of fruity mango flavor and a tad sweet.

Peppermint - Pure, medium strength peppermint tea that when paired with a few leftover Easter chocolates makes a great dessert tea.

Wild Raspberry Hibiscus- One of my favorites of the teas, strikes the right balance between sweet and rosy.

All nine flavors to choose from!
Among my favorites are Licorice Spice, Wild Raspberry Hibiscus, and Peppermint! Plus, this variety box of teas containing 9 flavors and 2 tea bags of each is just $3.50, so you can find your favorites in the line without spending a ton of cash unlike with other fine tea samplers. Also there is good news for those of you on the organic/natural kick since these are all made with 100% natural ingredients while still being caffeine-free! Overall I loved these tea bags and I can't wait to order some more for myself!

The Stats:
 - This variety pack is just $3.50
 - All flavors are available in numbers of tea bags and loose tea leaves as well
 - Super simple, just heat your water to 190-209 degrees and steep for 3-5 minutes!
 - Available online, at local grocers as well as Target and Walmart
 - Check-out www.stashtea.com for the full tea selection

Nail Review: Kiss Nail Dress

Once again, thanks to Influenster, I have had the wonderful opportunity to try out some great new products that I usually otherwise wouldn't have picked up for myself. However, after testing these super cute nail polish stickers, I can say I will definitely be picking up some more in the future!

Kiss Nail Dress in Cocktail
Now that I go to school for Cosmetology, I realize how chipped nails are a big no-no in the salon and when it comes down to it, I either go without polish or do a polish change every couple days when they start chipping. I think it's safe to say that I would rather have polished nails, but it is a real pain-in-the-touchie to have to change it so often.

So when I saw the claim on the packaging I decided to put it to the ultimate test: 2 weekends and five full days of vigorous note-taking, perm wrapping, updo's, and working with acrylics. Surprisingly by day 9 these nail stickers were still going strong and I have no doubt I could have even left them on even longer had I not gotten bored with them, but don't worry, if you are like me then you will be happy to hear that these come in 18 different prints to try so you never get bored! I also find that most of the prints are pretty detailed and that I got so many complements from people thinking that I had gotten my nails done at the salon!

Plus, They are super easy to apply and remove! I just simply found the appropriate sizes for each of my fingers, stuck them to my fingers, and filed off the excess. To remove, I just picked at the edge of my nails and peeled the stickers off. I also loved the application and removal so much more compared to normal polish since there is virtually no prep (just make sure your nails are free of old polish or oils and that your cuticles are pushed back) and no drying time which means I can just stick 'em on and go, which is exactly what I need since I am so impatient! I also really like the fact that they include larger polish strips to use for your toes too since I have never seen that done before with other popular polish strip brands. All in all this product is a major success if you ask me thanks to the amazingly easy application, long-wear time, and additional strips for your toes!

The Stats:
 - Easy To Use and Apply: Just select the appropriate sizes, stick on, and file off the excess
 - Can be used for both tips and toes
 - Includes 28 strips in 14 sizes to find your perfect fit! (plus a file to take the excess off)
 - Lasts up to 10 days!
 - Priced Just Right at $6.99
 - Come in 18 unique styles

Bath and Body Review: Gillette Venus and Olay Razor

Thanks to Influenster, I got the wonderful opportunity to try out a couple great beauty products that I admittedly would never pick up for myself, this razor being one of them!

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

Honestly, I never would have picked this up for myself as I am just sort of a "any razor is good enough" kind of girl, but that has dramatically changed since my very first shave with this luxurious razor. What really makes this razor different than all the others are the Olay shave gel bars on either sides of the blades, so there is no shaving cream needed! Which saves both time and money and I can definitely use more of both of those. But the real attraction I found with this razor was the five blades- yes, FIVE!- to get an even closer shave. Yes, this razor does promise a lot, so I was a bit skeptakle, I mean, a life-changing razor? Not completely sold on that idea.

However, as per usual, I was wrong not being sold on it because now I fully am! I found that the shave gel bar at the bottom gave me just the right amount of slip before the razor came in contact with my skin and the other at the top soothed my skin immediately afterward. Plus, the smooth, silky feeling goes beyond the shower and prolongs my shave by at least an additional day or two. But as much as I love this razor, there is just one hang-up, I feel like the shave gel bars run-out before the shaver blades dull down. Which is a bit weird and I feel like the bars last a good 7 shaves before I would like to replace it and for me, that means I get just about 6-7 weeks of silky smooth legs, which is fair enough for me.

I have to admit, I was super impressed with this razor even though it is just that, a razor, but the shave gel bars really make it worth it by saving me both time and money since I no longer need to pay for and bust out the shaving cream or go over my legs multiple times to get a super close shave thanks to the five blades.

The Stats:
 - Built in Olay Moisture Bars
 - No need for shaving cream
 - One refill lasts about 7 shaves
 - Comes with a handle, one replaceable shaver refill and a handy shower hanger for air-drying between uses
 - Starter Kit ranges in price from $8.99 to $10.99
 - Refill 3 Pack ranges in price from $15.99 to $19.49
 - Get More info at http://www.gillettevenus.com

What razor do you rely on for those silky smooth legs during summer?

Tag: Seven Deadly Beauty Sins

1* Greed: What is your most inexpensive beauty product? What is your most expensive beauty product?

My most inexpensive beauty product is probably the Essence Lipliner in Cute Pink that I picked up a few months ago for just $0.99!

My most expensive beauty product is probably the Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV at about $64.00 before it went on sale.

2* Wrath: What beauty product do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?

I tend to have a love/hate relationship with the e.l.f Contouring Blushing and Bronzing duo since the powders are so pigmented that they can easily be applied in a not-so-attractive way.

I find the hardest product to get to date has been the Urban Decay Naked Palette because it got to the point that as soon as a store got them in stock and opened you had to be standing right outside, first inline to get one.

3* Gluttony: What are your most delicious beauty products?

Hmmmmm.... probably c. Booth Walnut Shell Body Scrub & Cleanser because of the warm, comforting woodsy vanilla scent that relaxes me when I use it.

4* Sloth: What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

I have gone through so many phases, eyeshadow everyday, liquid eyeliner everyday, pencil liner for my waterline everyday.... Right now I am currently going through a minimalist phase of pretty much foundation, powder, blush, mascara, brow pencil, and something for my lips so I have really been ignoring eyeshadow and eyeliner lately.

5* Pride: What beauty product gives you the most self-confidence?

Definitely foundation to help cover any acne, acne scarring and dark circles that I have all too often. I'm currently switching between my long-time favorite NYC Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup and the new Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam that I am trying out (review coming soon).

6* Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

I would have to say eyes. I really do believe that the eyes are the window to the soul and you can usually tell a lot about a person just from one look.

* My Question for Lust: Which product/brand do you find has the most physically attractive packaging?

Hmmmmm, this one is a toughie for me as I find all packaging pretty at first sight, but the actual quality makes a big difference. If I had to pick, I would probably say NARS or MAC because each are very sophisticated and classic packaging, but MAC seems to have a much more functional approach with the clear windows to see the colors within unlike their NARS counterparts.

7* Envy: What product would you most like to receive as a gift?

Well since I can't narrow it down to just one, I'll name a few:
 - Urban Decay Naked2
 - Urban Decay Build Your Own Palette filled with Walk of Shame, Virgin, Naked, Bust, Zephyr, and Buck (also all known as my most used and loved Urban Decay Eyeshadows!)
 - Sigma Sigmax Essential Kit

So, what are your 7 deadly beauty sins?

March Favorites

Yep! It is that time yet again! This time around I think I have quite a few new favorites for this month.

Makeup
E.L.F. Studio Powder Blush in Pink Passion

Lately this has been my new go-to blush when I'm in a pinch and need a quick flush of color. I love the pigmentation which means there is no need to apply several layers and with just a tap into the pan with a Sigma F50- Duo Fiber Brush and a swirl or two on the apples of my cheeks I get a fresh glow that just can't be replicated with another blush.

Essence I ♥ Extreme Volume Mascara

Thanks to the great representatives at Essence I have a new favorite drugstore mascara! Just a couple of swipes and my lashes transform into thick, dark, and defined lashes. Plus, I find that the big brush gives my lashes loads of volume to spare.

Essence Lipsticks top to bottom in Coralize Me! and Red Carpet

Once again, thanks to the lovely representatives over at Essence I changed my views a bit on lipstick. I no longer think of lipstick as being heavy or a bit too old for my generation, now I view it as a new fun, bold way to change up my look without feeling like my lips are plastered with lipstick. I have also been loving how these silky lipsticks glide on easily and feel much more like a gloss than an actual lipstick.

I have once again gone back to hard-core crushing on Urban Decay's Single Eyeshadow in Naked as the perfect all-over color for everything from a lid color to crease blending color to brow powder I find it just multitasks so easily and whether you are an advanced artist or a beauty beginner you seriously need this color in your collection!
Nails

O.P.I. Elephantastic Pink with O.P.I. Silver Shatter

Finally the days of dreary, nearly black, but not polish, I have gone back to fun brights and soft pastels for the spring and summer, so look forward to a spring/summer nail polish favorites coming soon!

What were some of your favorite products last month?

What A Year Does To A Person...

Today marks a year from this blog's very first blog post. I know, horrible day to put up a first blog post right? I mean, April Fool's Day? I really just can't believe that I have had this blog for an entire year. It does feel like I've had it a while, but not nearly as long as an entire year! And thanks to all of my followers and supporters, old and new, this blog has grown much larger than I ever thought it would! Thank you to everyone who even stops by just once, because whether it is a follow, a sweet comment, or a casual mention to another friend about this blog, I am very grateful for it.
