6 Tips To Getting Gorgeous On-The-Go

Sometimes we (yes, me included!) just do not have enough time to get ready in the morning, so whether you are running late or need to quickly touch-up in the middle of the day  I have a few tips and tricks to keep in mind!

1.) To start a long day off on the right foot, use longlasting cosmetics. Sometimes cosmetics companies go overboard and try and make claims that their products last a buzzillion hours when in reality, you may only be  wearing it for 16 at max. So do try and pick out products in the morning that have key words on the packaging like smudge-proof, long-wearing, and long-lasting. However, don't go out and buy every product you find that's advertised as 24 hour wear time because most likely you will never keep them on that long to see if they really do last.

2.) If you are running late and you happen to be in dire need of putting on some mascara and eyeliner while in a moving vehicle, wait until it comes to a stop! I can not stress this enough because honestly, no one looks good with red, irritated eyes after almost poking them out with an eyeliner pencil!

3.) This probably goes without saying, but always keep a compact mirror with you at all times! We have all been there trying to use the backs of our iPods and phone screens for mirrors, but most-often it just doesn't cut it, so make sure you always keep a compact with you!

4.) Whenever I am running late, the thing I most forget to do is brush my hair! So my advice is to always keep a small compact pop-out brush with mirror combo with you or in your bag so when you are running late and you find yourself in a bad hair day scenario, you have your handy-dandy brush to help keep your hair in check.

5.) For those of you who love to straighten and curl their hair everyday, I suggest leaving a mini or portable straightener or curling iron at your place of work or your school locker so when your hair all of a sudden starts to turn too flat or curly for your liking, or if you are just in need of a quick style change before a big meeting or event, a mini iron may just save your hair!

6.) I also recommend always having a mini emergency kit with you always stocked with your must-haves. I like to create my own using a small cosmetics bag and stocking it with advil for headaches, mints, Colgate Wisps, deodorant, mini perfume, mattifying powder, bobbie pins, hairbands, and supplies for my monthly needs. But if you would prefer, some companies make pre-packaged mini-emergency kits complete with basically everything you could ever even think of needing!

Packing For The Plane

Just a week ago I went to Orlando, Florida and as it was my first time on a plane, I thought I would share what I choose to pack and bring with me in my carry-on.

For my carry-on I decided to pick up a Merona Beach Tote in Black/White from Target since it was just the right size to carry everything I needed, plus it went with my outfit and was on sale for $14.99 (Originally $19.99)

Here's a general overview of what I brought in my carry-on.

I made sure to bring the outfit that I was going to change into after I got to the hotel because my sister and I opted to use the Disney Express and baggage claim since we were staying at a Disney resort and our bags were set to arrive up to three hours after we arrived at the hotel. I also brought along slipper socks for the plane and my North Face jacket in case I got cold, plus another pair of shoes for my outfit after I get off (Aphorism Crochet Oxfords $20.00 from T.J. Maxx).

I also put my purse for the parks (Navy/white pinstripe cross-body bag from Walmart $10) in my carry-on along with my summer reading book for school, After The Fire by Robin Gaby Fisher.

Inside the first front pocket I kept my phone (LG Ally, that was charging when I took this picture!) and some witty notepads to doodle on, I like to doodle geometric puzzles for some odd reason...

In the second outer pocket I kept my sunglasses, noise-reducing ear buds, and two pens, one with a rubber band around it just in case I need it!

In the main pocket of the bag I was able to put my purple Coach wallet, my own mini-emergency kit with an EcoTools Bronzing Brush to apply Essence Mattifying Compact Powder- hairbands- hair clips- and bandaids, my stud earrings (didn't want to set off metal detectors going through security!), mints, my baggie of liquids including a Bath & Body Works Mini Carried Away Fragrance Mist, Spray Hair Serum, Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss, and  Bath & Body Works Bali Mango lipgloss, Sweet Mint EOS Lip Sphere, Samsung ST76 Camera in ACME MADE case, Neon rat-tail comb, and a Forever21 bow headband.

What do you like to pack in your carry-on?

Airport Adventures!

I am super excited to tell you all that I just got back from vacation to.... guess where.......... DisneyWorld! So going on this trip means that yes, I had to get onto an airplane for the first time in my life, yikes! Scary! So to ease my airplane tension I thought I would think more about the fashionable aspects of it, like how to perfect my effortless, comfy, but cute airpane outfit!

After I got to thinking about airport style, I ended up in one of my favorite go-to fashionable places, Forever21! And as luck would have it, I found the perfect comfy-cute sweatpants-but-don't-look-like-jogging-sweatpants in just my size on the sale rack! After I swiped them up I tried on a couple of other things, but only ended up leaving with the sweatpants and a shirt that says "Call Me Anytime" on it just because all sale items were buy one, get one free.

Anyways, I thought I would show you all what I planned out my outfit to be just incase any of you are going on an airplane trip this summer and like me, aren't too well versed in the art of airport appropriate styles.

I kept it simple with the makeup by using a light, moisturizing foundation like the Almay Pure Blend Foundation with a moisturizing concealer like TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer for trouble spots paired with a sheer creme blush. I am also going for a good in between grey eye look using the Urban Decay Naked2 so my makeup is light enough for day (since I am traveling early in the morning) and can easily transition into late afternoon and evening. I know a lot of people don't like to wear makeup to the airport because the air in the airplanes is often quiet dry and can make your skin feel uncomfortable underneath the makeup, but I just simply can not due without my makeup and the plane ride is only about 2 and a half hours, so I choose a moisturizing foundation and creme blush, plus I am brang a mini bottle of my favorite Evian Facial Mist with me in my carry-on. However, if I wasn't going to wear makeup, I probably just would have packed some facial cleansing wipes and moisturizer for good measure.

I picked out a simple black two-tiered tank top from Old Navy and tucked it into my fabric-belted Forever21 sweatpants (which do have elastic at the bottom of each leg to cinch in at the ankle) and threw on my favorite Torrid cardigan and knotted it in the front. The bag in this picture is not the one I actually end up using for my carry-on, but in case you were wondering is from Red by Marc Echo.

What I love most about this outfit is that it is super versatile, and below I styled it for when I got off the plane, for the rest of the day if I didn't feel like changing. Although, I did end up changing when I got to the hotel, but if I hadn't this is how I would have styled it.

Here I just took off the cardigan, untucked the tank, took the fabric-belt off of the pants, pulled the elastic bands on the bottom of each leg up to mid-calf, and exchanged the flats for Lane Bryant T-strap sandals. I also switched to a small cross-body bag by Style & Co. which I actually decided I will switch out for a blue and white verticle striped crossbody bag for the DisneyWorld Parks that I found at Walmart, which isn't exactly where I would go to find something like that, but I surprisingly liked it! I also added some jewelry to this look since wearing jewelry to the airport can become a hassle and set off the metal-detectors, so here I added a LoveCulture long bow necklace, black ball studs, and a Brash mesh bow metal headband to keep my hair back.

What do you wear when traveling by air?

Up, Up, And Away!

Just wanted to let you all know that for the next couple of days there won't be any new posts because I am heading out to Orlando, Florida with my sister for vacation. So look forwards to some pictures of DisneyWorld and Universal Islands coming in the near future! But until then, wish me luck on my first plane trip, I admit it, I am super nervous about flying!

Have you ever flown? What are some of your must-have carry-on items? Tell me in the comments below!

July Favorites!

It has been a long summer month filled with sunshine and cook-outs and it is hard to believe it's over with, but thankfully I had these summer beauty favorites to get me through!

Urban Decay Naked2 Palette
Traveling to my sisters house, I didn't want to pack a ton of different products and palettes, so I settled on bring both my Naked and Naked2 Palettes, which have turned out to be really useful! Between both of the palettes, I have been able to create countless looks from easy, breezy day looks to dramatic night looks. Specifically the Naked2 has been my go-to for great looks that can really go easily from a day look to a night look thanks to the perfect in between smokey shades.

Left to Right: Revlon Eye Primer and Brightener and Revlon Photoready
 Perfecting Primer
Recently I have had the chance to try out some great new products from Revlon, including these two new primers. Since I have hereditary dark circles, meaning no matter how much sleep I get I always have dark circles, this eye primer and brightener is my new best friend! This product is perfect for my under-eye circles and I find that when I use this product under my eyes before any other products it brightens my dark circles so much that on a good day concealer and foundation aren't needed to cover them! I also love the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer for all over my face because it glides on and makes my face feel smooth while letting makeup slip easily over my skin leaving me with a more flawless finish.
Evian Facial Mist
Usually I am not one for the fancy-shmansy, unnesseccary products, but sometimes we all need a little something to indulge in and this is my favorite indulgent product. I love how this thin mist of pure Evian water perfectly balances out my combination skin while setting my makeup.
Nail Polish
Left to Right: Revlon Colorstay Base Coat, Indigo Night, and Top Coat
Recently Revlon gave me the awsome opportunity to try out some of their new products including these polishes from their new Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish line. Revlon claims that these polishes can last up to 11 days of wear, and I found out that is competely true! My polish looked just like new until the twelfth day when my left index finger finally chipped, which was incredible! Even my OPI Nail Polishes don't last that long!

What were some of your July favorites?
